EV trucks were more of a gamble than EV cars. Nobody doubted EVs could carry people from place to place, but could an electric truck replicate the power of gas or diesel? The 2025 Chevy Silverado EV is here to prove that EV trucks are getting the work done with power to spare.
Maximum Range
Chevrolet’s battery tech is charging ahead of the competition, offering a range of more than 400 miles on the Silverado. They offer access to more than 250,000 charging stations, including 20,000 Tesla stations, across the country. It can, of course, be charged at home on your regular house line, but Chevy will also install a Level 2 charging station to take advantage of the 11.5 kW charging port. The myChevrolet mobile app displays battery diagnostic and efficiency information, as well as assisting in trip planning around available public charging stations.
More Than Just Charging
But Chevy isn’t stopping at using that big battery to get you further. The interior offers wireless charging and USB ports, as well as a 12-volt outlet. It still has plenty of power for 7.2kW, split-phase, AC power. This can run household tech and appliances with no adapter from a 120-volt port and heavier-duty equipment on a 240-volt port in the bed.
Dual Motor Strong
The Silverado comes standard with four-wheel drive, with a separate motor for the front and back wheels. The system instantly and evenly applies torque to each wheel for maximum traction in any conditions.
Cargo Innovation
Moving the battery to the underside of the vehicle frees up space previously taken up by the engine for a 10.7 cubic foot eTrunk for anything you might not want sitting in the bed. The bed also has its own LED lighting and pillar lamps, so you can find cargo items in the dark. Tailgates have come a long way from being simple slabs of metal at the end of the truck bed. The Multi-Flex Tailgate provides six different configurations to ease loading and unloading, help secure cargo in the bed, and provide a work surface for a laptop or clipboard.
Tow Smarter
No pickup truck discussion would be complete without towing. The Silverado EV claims a 12,500 lb maximum towing capacity. It also includes nice quality of life features like Hitch Guidance and Trailer Assist guidelines. Hitch Guidance provides a centered guideline on the rearview camera to assist in lining up your trailer, while Trailer Assist gives you guidelines so you can more easily see the path the trailer is taking as you’re backing up.
